Abstract and Landscape Paintings
Working with acrylics on canvas I use multiple layers of glazes to give a depth and range of color and I vary the surface texture of the paintings to reflect the serenity or harshness of the environment.
My abstract paintings are highly textured with texture compounds, paper and metal foils. Inspiration for these pieces come from the patterns and colours found in nature, ranging from sections of rusty metal to images of outer space taken by the Hubble telescope.
In my landscapes I try to capture an essence of the remote beauty of these areas I have explored sailing or hiking in Scotland, Cumbria and New Zealand.
